Field Decisions / Empowered Revenue Systems

Seller activity is not the same as customer progress.

CRM can show what the business recorded. It cannot decide whether a customer decision is real, what help is useful, who needs to act, or whether the business can deliver what it promises.

Empowered Revenue Systems is Signal Trapper's developing field-and-management operating model for those decisions. It connects customer, seller, management, delivery, and learning work back to CRM Operations.

Three connected decisions

The customer, seller, and manager are not making the same decision.

Their decisions affect one another, but they should not be collapsed into one sales stage or activity score.

Customer decision

What is being decided? What evidence is missing? Who is affected? What support would actually be useful?

Seller decision

Is there confirmed relevance? Can the business contribute? What action is justified—and when should the seller pause or stop?

Management decision

Who owns the situation? What expertise, authority, capacity, or escalation does it require?

These decisions stay distinct, but each should carry the evidence, ownership, and context the next person needs.

Evidence has to earn promotion

Activity cannot move the decision by itself.

  1. 01

    Noticed

    Something changed or was observed.

  2. 02

    Sourced

    The observation has a source, date, and possible connection to a decision.

  3. 03

    Explained

    There is a bounded hypothesis that still needs testing.

  4. 04

    Confirmed relevant

    The condition matters to a real customer decision.

  5. 05

    Commercially qualified

    There is a legitimate contribution and a commercial path worth examining.

  6. 06

    Forecastable

    Buyer commitment and delivery feasibility support a forecast.

These are evidence conditions, not prescribed CRM stages. Activity alone cannot move work from one condition to the next.

Review Evidence and Current Limits

Match support to the decision

Not every customer decision needs the same involvement.

Self-directed

The customer can proceed with accessible evidence and standard controls.

Expert-assisted

A bounded expert contribution resolves a defined question.

Decision-orchestrated

Stakeholders, evidence, alternatives, risk, and implementation require continuing coordination.

These are reversible support modes. They are not customer tiers, CRM stages, or a forced progression.

Push the decision, not the person

Continued intervention must add something useful.

That may be evidence, consequence, correction, coordination, an accepted obligation, or a response to a material change.

When continued pursuit adds no decision value, active pursuit stops.

Coordinate at the right altitude

Territory, regional, and national responsibilities are operating accountabilities.

They describe the scope of evidence, capability, capacity, coordination, exceptions, and decisions someone must hold. They are not customer tiers, marketing packages, or mandatory job layers.

The work continues after agreement

A commercial win is not proof that value was delivered.

A responsible commitment includes feasibility, authority, dependencies, capacity, timing, and acceptance.

The system then distinguishes:

  • the commitment;
  • delivery;
  • adoption or use;
  • the customer's actual outcome;
  • any remedy required; and
  • what the organization should learn or change.

Back into the system

Field learning has to correct the record.

Confirmation, contradiction, changed timing, delivery reality, no decisions, losses, and outcomes return with a source, date, scope, owner, and stated uncertainty.

They can trigger review of the record, workflow, capacity model, client configuration, tool choice, or operating standard.

What is the model missing?

Bring a decision problem, an assumption that does not hold, or a useful test.

A challenge may inform a future question, test, or version. It does not become validation or evidence merely because it was submitted.
